Biographical / Historical

Westchester Institute was found in 1883. The following year the name of the school was changed to Sacred Heart Academy. It was a boarding school for boys, around 150-200 students annually. The Academy was under the direction of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and was the Junior Department of Manhattan College. The nearly 100 acre property It was located at Clason-on-the-Sound, Westchester, New York (now the Soundview section of the Bronx). Sacred Heart Academy existed from 1884-19(01?)
