Biographical / Historical

James Brady was a Manhattan College alumnus who graduated in 1950. He is well known as a journalist, publisher, editor and author of multiplte novels. Beginning in the 1960's when he transformed Woman's Wear Daily into a successful, nationally read publication, he established himself as a reputable professional. Described as "urbane and cosmopolitan, rooted and street-smart, charming and engaging" by Manhattan College President James Scanlon (1987- 2009), he excelled in his professional endeavors. His extensive career included, but is not limited to, editor of the National Star and of New York Magazine, a contributing writter to the New York Post, Vice President of Hearst, Publisher and Editorial Director of Harpar's Bazaar and Editor-at-Large of Advertising Age. His 10 published novels often focussed on his experiences as a Marine during the Korean war and of his beloved East Hamptons which he called home.
