The Lasallian Family is a movement inspired by the 42nd General Chapter in 1993. The term "family" signifies all the people groups and movements that have been inspired by the educational approach and spirituality of St. John Baptist de la Salle. The aims of the Lasallian Family Movement are to: recognize and reassert the up-to-date nature of the spirit of St. John Baptist de la Salle, to encourage the sharing of Lasallian identity with others, to help men and women belonging to Lasallian to grow with the awareness of their Lasallian identity, to include those involved with the Brothers' establishments or not to learn about John Baptist de la Salle. The movement established the role of the Lasallian Family Coordinator and the Lasallian Family Board, which has representatives from each of the major midwest districts. Each district has a Lasallian Family Committee that works with the Coordinator to advance the aims of the Lasallian Family Movement through retreats, workshops, and programs.
