In view of the need to educate the young people of the region in a Christian way, Monsignor Constantino Luna Pianegonda, Bishop of the Diocese of Zacapa and Chiquimula, invited the Brothers of the Christian Schools to assume the construction and direction of a Christian educational center, in the place called "Los Cocales". The De La Salle Brothers of the District of St. Louis, United States, accepted the invitation and that is how, in 1961, the first steps were taken for their arrival. The first Brothers to arrive were: Br. Clarence Riehms, Alberto Williams and Alfredo Longnecker, founders of the "La Salle" Lyceum in Chiquimula in 1962. Later the Brothers join them:

Brother Alfredo Bro MarĂn Spellman Brother Bernardo Lane Mr. Juan Meynadier Brother Juan Navas Brother Antonio Ruiz Br. Amadeo Kelly Br. Patricio King
