In the inscription, Ed refers to the Illumination Project at Bishop Walsh High School in Cumberland and Brother Joe's assistance regarding providing historical information. "Brother Irene" is a reference to Brother Joe's mother (Mrs. Herman Grabenstein, Jr.—Irene, A.F.S.C.) who became one of the honorees in the Illumination Project

Dr. Leo Ley, Jr., A.F.S.C., is given a full page (page 86). Dr. Ley graduated from La Salle HS in 1933 and later in time donated free or low-cost medical services to the athletes of Ridgeley (WV) High School. Photos of the gymnasium--named for Dr. Ley—are in this book. Photocopies of the pages regarding Dr. Ley and the gym are in the "AFSC" files (Schema #346).
