Biographical / Historical

All these essays, poems, and stories are written by the Baltimore Scholastics [Student Brothers] at Anselm Hall, Elkins Park, PA, The article entitled “Bluefields and the Christian Brothers,” pages 65-93, by Brother Fidelis Celestine [John Burns, born 1934, habit 1952, withdrew 1971] is based on good material provided by Brother Denis of Mary [Ruhland] and by Brother Gedeon Francis [Gavin]. The article contains much information about the Christian Brothers’ missionary work in Nicaragua. Mentioned are Brothers Jerome Patrick [St. Louis District] and Benignus Lewis [New York District]. The article entitled “Misconception,” pages 145-163, by Brother Denis Roderick [John Walsh, born 1935, habit 1953, withdrew 1971] was awarded First Prize in the contest at Anselm Hall during the summer of 1955.
